
Greenwood Elementary students are collecting money for Neighbor Helping Neighbor Food Bank. Elementary students who donate $1 may participate in Hat Day on December 22nd.

2nd grade boarded the Greenwood Jet to begin the Christmas around the world. They had to go through security and meet a TSA agent before boarding.

It is Greenwood Elementary Book Fair time! Students will visit the fair now through Monday, December 12th. The fair has a great selection of books for all readers!

Greenwood School District is aware of a Comcast outage affecting our phone and internet service. Comcast is currently assessing the issue and attempting to repair it. We will continue to update as information presents itself.

Mrs. Davis and the High School Chorus are busy at work making the final preparations for the MS/HS Chorus Concert coming up in less than a week! Check them out Wednesday night, December 7th, in the High School Auditorium!

Today in 5th grade science class we learned about DNA and then we made our own DNA out of pipe cleaners!



Greenwood Elementary first graders created balloon floats based on their favorite book characters. Our fourth graders created their own floats and put on a live parade for the school to watch. Click on the link to watch the first grade parade and see pictures of the fourth grade parade.

Happy Thanksgiving!


First graders worked cooperatively and used their reading skills to follow recipes to make Friendship Bread and homemade butter. They watched a liquid change to a solid right before their eyes! Both were delicious!




Miss Pauling’s and Mrs. Seibert’s friends built turkey traps with their families over the past week. Today they wrote about the steps to catch the perfect turkey using their own trap as the model. They then shared their traps with visitors from around the building.





Our Book Fair is returning and will be held December 5th through 12th for grades K-6. Mark your calendars now! Students can shop during their regularly scheduled library class or at other times throughout the week. Flyers will be starting to come home with students very soon!


1st grade joined their 5th grade buddies to make pumpkin pies! They worked on skills like units of capacity, fractions, properties of a circle, time management, and reading and writing! We loved this real life experience! Any unused food items were donated to the food bank.





Ms. Johnson’s kinderkids enjoyed practicing high frequency words with Play-Doh!




This week, students in Food Science explored the characteristics of oils. They tested which oil is best for deep-frying fresh cut french fries. Canola oil was the fan-favorite! Olive oil, however, is not recommended.
