Thanks to Miss Machorro and her Spanish II class, the MDS students decorated eggs as a fun way to celebrate the start of their spring recess.

Belco Credit Union graciously sponsored a Reality Fair for students from Greenwood and Newport. Greenwood's Personal Finance students selected a likely career path and then Belco generated an average monthly salary based on that path. Taxes, food, housing, clothing, loans, and other optional expenses were calculated as well as opportunities to save money and pay down debt. Each student worked through their own individualized simulation with the help of amazing community volunteers. Thank you to everyone who made this worthwhile event possible for our students.

We are seeking reliable and compassionate substitute nurses (LPN or RN) to provide coverage in the public school setting. Assignments may include working in the health room at the elementary, middle, or high school level, as well as accompanying students on field trips. For more information visit our district website and click on the employment tab.

First grade worked with our garden specialist, Mallory, to explore what it means to compost. We decided what we could and couldn't compost. Then, we looked at material that was put into our garden compost to see if it has changed into soil. After, we filled our classroom compost bins with material to watch decompose.

Our 5th grade students have been learning about cells in science class. After presenting their cell models, each student chose an organelle and created a poster analogy in writing class. Here's a peek at their "Cell Selfie" project displayed in the fifth grade hallway!

Last week, when the weather was beautiful, our elementary students took full advantage of it during a "School-Wide Get Outside” event! ☀️
All students in grades K–5 spent time outdoors enjoying the fresh air. Some students chose to play and be active, while others continued their learning in an outdoor setting. It was a wonderful opportunity to mix fun with education and make the most of the sunshine!
Of course, this week reminded us that it is still early spring—bringing back the cold, gray, and unpredictable weather 🌧️❄️—but we’re so glad we made the most of those warm, sunny moments while we had them! We had a great time and look forward to more days like that ahead!

This weekend Quinlin McAllister represented Greenwood at the PMEA District 7 Jazz Festival. We are so proud of her!

Eight Greenwood students took a tour of Secco Electric in Camp Hill. Bill McSherry, Heather Gates, and their team graciously took time out of their day to give our students some hands on demonstrations in bending conduit and showed us their shop and continuing education areas in their business. But more importantly, they took the time to explain the different types of electrical work done by different companies as well as the different avenues to pursue a Journeyman Certification.

Congratulations to Caroline Hartley, the PECO Rotary Club Student of the Month for March! Seniors are honored for their academic, extracurricular, and community achievements. Way to go, Caroline!

Last day to order your elementary yearbook!

Students in grades K–5 are loving our new ChompSaws! These are safe, kid-friendly cardboard cutting saws that allow them to cut, design, and build a variety of creative STEM projects! A huge thank you to the Greenwood Wildcat Foundation for purchasing these tools for our students. We are incredibly thankful for your support! These saws are an amazing addition to our STEM program and help provide authentic, hands-on learning experiences every time students create.

Six Business students competed in the Sales Competition at Susquehanna University.
